Mainly found in the areas of Alba, Asti, and Oltrepò Pavese, Barbera – strictly feminine, both the grape and the wine – is a classy wine, generally to be drunk young and whose merits also include a decidedly reasonable price.
Red in color tending to garnet with aging. On the nose, an ethereal, intense and characteristic aroma of the grape variety of origin, with hints reminiscent of red fruits. On the palate it is soft, harmonious, full and persistent. It ages at least two years, at least one of which in wooden barrels.
Food Pairings: ideal with typical Piedmontese dishes, well-structured, both pasta-based, such as agnolotti or tajarin with ragù, and meat-based, such as roasts, braised meats, fried meats and Piedmontese-style boiled meats, as well as with medium-aged cheeses.
