Collection: Sagrantino of Montefalco
Sagrantino di Montefalco is a DOCG wine produced in the municipality of Montefalco, and part of those of Bevagna, Gualdo Cattaneo, Castel Ritaldi and Giano dell'Umbria in the province of Perugia. Sagrantino di Montefalco obtained DOC recognition on 30 October 1979 and DOCG recognition on 5 November 1992. Since 1981, the wines of Montefalco ( Montefalco Rosso, Montefalco Rosso Riserva, Montefalco Bianco, Montefalco Sagrantino ) have been protected by the Consorzio Tutela Vini Montefalco .Sagrantino is a tannic wine, so much so that aging is mandatory for a period of at least 33 months, with at least 12 months in oak barrels for the dry version. This must be followed by a further period of refinement in the bottle for at least 4 months. With an intense ruby red color, sometimes with purple reflections and tending towards garnet with aging. Delicate and characteristic nose reminiscent of blackberries. Dry and harmonious on the palate. Pair with mature cheeses, grilled, stewed and braised meats, noble game.
