Collection: Taurasi

Taurasi is a DOCG wine produced in the province of Avellino. The production area of DOCG Taurasi includes a series of hills or foothills between 400 and 700 meters above sea level that accompany the course of the Calore and are part of the Apennine ridge. The high presence of clay preserves the soil from summer drought and therefore allows for a more regular ripening of the grapes and a normal level of acidity. The richness in potassium and magnesium gives the wines intensity of aromas, good structure and balance. The wine must be subjected to a mandatory aging period of at least three years, at least one of which in wooden barrels. The aging period starts from the first of December of the year in which the grapes were produced. For the purpose of improvement, the addition of younger Taurasi wine to an identical older wine is permitted, or vice versa, up to a maximum of 15% in compliance with the EEC provisions on the matter. In this case, the label must show the vintage of the wine that contributes the most. The maximum yield of grapes into wine must not exceed 70% at the first racking and must not exceed sixty-five percent after the mandatory aging period. Taurasi , in its Taurasi and Taurasi Riserva typologies, is a wine with structure, elegant and austere but at the same time balanced, tannic. Taurasi appears “closed” when young, but this makes it suitable for very long aging, also thanks to its great minerality, good alcohol content, body and fullness that find their balance in the bottle.
