Collection: Barolo
Barolo is a red wine with a Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin produced in some municipalities of Piedmont and obtained from the vinification of the pure Nebbiolo grape variety. The area of origin of the grapes suitable for producing wines with a Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin "Barolo", whose first delimitation dates back to 31 August 1933, includes the territories of the municipalities of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba and part of the territories of the municipalities of La Morra, Monforte d'Alba, Roddi, Verduno, Cherasco, Diano d'Alba, Novello and Grinzane Cavour in the province of Cuneo. Barolo is born in the Langhe, a term that according to some scholars derives from "Langues", which are nothing other than strips of land that extend in a lively play of profiles, modulated by the changing seasons. From a geological point of view, the Langhe originated in the Tertiary or Cenozoic Era, which began almost 70 million years ago. The white tufaceous marl characterizes the production area, on the high hills overlooking the Tanaro river. The soil that composes the territory for the most part belongs to that geological formation called "Tortorian soil", one of the 14 layers that form the pile of sedimentary soils that make up the Tertiary basin of Piedmont. Barolo requires aging for at least 38 months, of which 18 in wooden barrels, starting from November 1st of the year the grapes are produced. The distinctive character of Barolo is its structure that expresses a complex and enveloping bouquet, of great longevity, that is, capable of developing over time without losing its organoleptic characteristics. We are talking about a very rigid and tannic red wine, but full of ethereal, earthy and licorice and undergrowth references: its natural pairing is truffle, another great product of the Langhe. To be paired with risotto or fillet and meat in general and game. Excellent for braising. A wine with a great impact that falls into the category of important wines.
